The weekend edition #1

Over the weekend we had some beautiful weather so thought we would make the most of it and go out for the day with Maisie our pup. Life gets so hectic with work and doing up the house at the moment so it was nice to take a day off to ourselves. Firstly we started off with some brunch, and it was delicious!

Of course this was mine - maple syrup and bacon pancakes!
We then took Maisie on a long walk in the countryside, it was so nice to get out in the fresh air and walk off brunch.

Spring time flowers

On our way back we came across the most beautiful gardens, we are just making a start on our new garden and this is major inspiration. We are planning to go for a country garden as we live right out in the country now. There will be a blog post to follow! This is the first of my weekend edition and I thought I would start doing these on a regular basis to show you what we get up to. I personally love seeing what other people do in their spare time and being nosy. Hope you are enjoying my blog posts, would love to hear your thoughts and what your favourite post has been so far :)

Living room transformation

As soon as we moved house we decided to start decorating the living room as we wanted at least one room where we could sit and feel like we were at home. We moved house in November so we didn't have much time to decorate before Christmas but soon after moving we arranged for a plasterer to come over and plaster over the ceilings and so the process began!

Just before we were about to decorate!

Once all the plaster was dry the next mission was painting the room - I was able to help more with this part, we chose a duck egg blue colour for the walls and decided on a feature wall with wall paper from Laura Ashley (my fave) We also painted the ceilings in a cream colour and added white coving, this meant the coving stood out more. Neither of us had done decorating like this before so I think we underestimated how long it would take!

The next step was to lay down the wood flooring which I absolutely love, we brought this whilst it was in the sale from homebase and it was a real bargain. My dad helped Rob with this as he had never done it before. My mum and I popped to the town and when we got back half of the room was done so it went down pretty quickly! The overall effect of the wood flooring was amazing and made such a difference to the room, we instantly loved it.

I will include some pictures now with the room completed, we are still waiting for a chair to arrive for the corner and I also plan on hanging up a big picture of our wedding day. Overall I am really happy with the room and it is so cozy in the evenings when we draw the curtains and put the candles on.

Of course I couldn't forget Maisie

.....Or Missy!

Back to blogging

I am back and more determined than ever to continue blogging.

Last year was a pretty hectic year as we moved house, we had a lot of delays during the moving process and it took a lot longer than expected so it did end up being a bit stressful. They do say that moving house is one of the most stressful things you can go through and I think that is true! In the end it all worked out for the best and we found a lovely house which is right in the countryside (perfect for long dog walks) we are literally surrounded by fields and both me and Rob are loving it.

The house we brought needs a lot of redecorating but that is the icing on the cake really as we have the house and now its the fun part of choosing colours and styles for the rooms. We are currently in the process of ripping out the existing kitchen and replacing it (blog post to follow) and we have also done the living room (another blogpost to follow).

This is our first house which we have had to decorate, we are both really enjoying putting our own stamp on it. I cant wait to share some pictures with you. We also have a couple of holidays planned this year, we are going to Positano in Italy and La Palma, we are really enjoying travelling as much as possible but it does get tough when you are trying to do up a house and travel at the same time. Decisions decisions! But for now we are trying our best to do a bit of both and enjoy this year of settling into our new home. I will be back soon with another blog post.

Lush Christmas Goodies!

Lush has recently brought back their Christmas goodies so I took a trip there and had to treat myself to some of their bath products as I am a huge fan of Lush's bath products!

So White - This smells of fresh apple and is one of my favorites. This bath bomb leaves you feeling calm and peaceful and is perfect if you need help unwinding after a long day.

Golden Wonder - I couldn't resist getting this, it has a very uplifting smell with citrus scents. It would be perfect for a special occasion as is bound to put a smile on your face. Inside is lots of glitter and it feels as if you are bathing in luxury with little pieces of glitter floating around you.

The Christmas penguin - This is a bubble bar so you just crumble it under the tap and it makes lots of lovely bubbles. These are great as they can be used a couple of times, this also smells of citrus flavors and leaves you feeling refreshed. And how can you not resist this cute penguin!

The melting snowman - This bath melt is my favorite Christmas product from lush. It is definitely  one which will get you in the mood for all things festive! This is perfect after a cold winters walk, just drop in the bath and it will leave your skin lovely and soft as well as the amazing Christmas spice smell that it leaves your skin smelling of.

Dreamtime -This bath melt is perfect after a stressful day. Once it melts it leaves a milky moisturizing sheen on the top layer of the bath water - this makes you feel as though you are under a carpet of goodness! This will definitely leave skin feeling lovely and soft and clear the mind.

What is your favourite treat from Lush?

An autumn day

At the weekend we decided to go for a walk to Ashdown Forest. Everything looked really Autumnal and it made me very excited for the next few months. Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year and I am looking forward to wearing nice big cosy jumpers and drinking hot chocolates! We had a really nice walk through the forest and are definitely looking forward to more walks during Autumn.

Maisie had to be involved in the fun of walking over a log!

Maisie's first adventure

We recently took Maisie on her first walk. We decided to take her to the coast as it isn't too far from us and would get her used to lots of different things at a young age. After three weeks of not being able to take her out (due to inoculations) this was a very exciting moment! She loved every minute of it and met lots of dogs, being a puppy she wasn't used to seeing other dogs but she loved every minute of it and at some points had 2 or 3 dogs around her! We made sure to have a slow walk so that she didn't get too tired out but by the end as you will see from the pictures I think it was all a bit much for her.

She was very tired by the end of the walk!

Our wedding day!

This is something I have been excited to write about, our wedding was fairly recently and was a day neither of us will ever forget. I explained in a previous blog that we had decided to get married in Malcesine, Lake Garda (Italy.) The reason for this is we both love Italy, I went to Malcesine when I was younger on a family holiday and absolutely fell in love with it. It is such a beautiful area, the lake is huge and is surrounded by mountains. In my opinion you can't beat the scenery.

We visited the area the year before our wedding to have a look at the places where we could have our reception and to explore the area. With the wedding being in Italy we were worried about planning it from the UK and therefore decided to go through a company called italianlakesweddings.com they were amazing and made the planning process so much easier.

We decided to have a 5.00 wedding as we worried it would be too hot for everyone in the middle of the day. Although when we got to Italy on the 23rd July the weather wasn't as good as we had been hoping - which was a surprise as this is the one thing we thought we wouldn't have to worry about! The area looks stunning whether it is sunny or not but of course for the wedding day we wanted it to be good weather otherwise we wouldn't have been able to have our outdoor ceremony. Luckily on the day the sun came out just in time. Our ceremony was overlooking the lake at Castello Scaligeri. The views from the castle are breath taking and we couldn't have asked for a better place to say I do.

After our ceremony we had some group photos and then walked down to the boat port where we had an hour boat ride which was a chance for myself and Robert to take in that we had just got married whilst enjoying a glass of prossecco!

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the boat trip - it was lovely to get the breeze and the views back to Malcesine castle. We also stopped off at a waterfall which was absolutely breath taking.

After our boat trip we walked to our reception venue the Prima Luna which was right on the Lake. We couldn't fault the Prima Luna, the food was lovely and they were so accomodating - it was amazing. We sat outside on a long table under a cover in case the weather took a change for the worst. (which right as we were finishing our meal it did and there was a huge storm! Luckily we were taken inside and danced the night away)  We took all the bird cages and decorations out with us in our suitcases and the look was exactly what we wanted. Looking at the pictures of the day makes me feel emotional because it was perfect and so much better than I ever imagined it could be. Of course we wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of our wedding planners, I am so thankful to them for all their efforts with our wedding day.

I am also so happy that all our planning and hard work with the decorations and getting everything out to Italy paid off. It feels sad that this time is over as it was an amazing day and I really enjoyed planning it but I couldn't be happier as I am now a Mrs and have some beautiful memories and photos to look back on and remember our special day.
