This is something I have been excited to write about, our wedding was fairly recently and was a day neither of us will ever forget. I explained in a previous blog that we had decided to get married in Malcesine, Lake Garda (Italy.) The reason for this is we both love Italy, I went to Malcesine when I was younger on a family holiday and absolutely fell in love with it. It is such a beautiful area, the lake is huge and is surrounded by mountains. In my opinion you can't beat the scenery.
We visited the area the year before our wedding to have a look at the places where we could have our reception and to explore the area.
With the wedding being in Italy we were worried about planning it from the UK and therefore decided to go through a company called italianlakesweddings.com they were amazing and made the planning process so much easier.
We decided to have a 5.00 wedding as we worried it would be too hot for everyone in the middle of the day. Although when we got to Italy on the 23rd July the weather wasn't as good as we had been hoping - which was a surprise as this is the one thing we thought we wouldn't have to worry about! The area looks stunning whether it is sunny or not but of course for the wedding day we wanted it to be good weather otherwise we wouldn't have been able to have our outdoor ceremony. Luckily on the day the sun came out just in time. Our ceremony was overlooking the lake at Castello Scaligeri. The views from the castle are breath taking and we couldn't have asked for a better place to say I do.
After our ceremony we had some group photos and then walked down to the boat port where we had an hour boat ride which was a chance for myself and Robert to take in that we had just got married whilst enjoying a glass of prossecco!
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the boat trip - it was lovely to get the breeze and the views back to Malcesine castle. We also stopped off at a waterfall which was absolutely breath taking.
After our boat trip we walked to our reception venue the Prima Luna which was right on the Lake. We couldn't fault the Prima Luna, the food was lovely and they were so accomodating - it was amazing. We sat outside on a long table under a cover in case the weather took a change for the worst. (which right as we were finishing our meal it did and there was a huge storm! Luckily we were taken inside and danced the night away) We took all the bird cages and decorations out with us in our suitcases and the look was exactly what we wanted. Looking at the pictures of the day makes me feel emotional because it was perfect and so much better than I ever imagined it could be. Of course we wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of our wedding planners, I am so thankful to them for all their efforts with our wedding day.
I am also so happy that all our planning and hard work with the decorations and getting everything out to Italy paid off. It feels sad that this time is over as it was an amazing day and I really enjoyed planning it but I couldn't be happier as I am now a Mrs and have some beautiful memories and photos to look back on and remember our special day.
